PaperClay doll by Marla L. Niederer |
I’ve
been experimenting with PaperClay with my doll making lately and created a
jointed PaperClay doll. Instead of using hair and dressing the doll in clothing
I sculpted the hair with clay imbedded fabric and used clay imbedded lace for
the skirt. I jointed the doll as I would
put together jewelry with wire. And I
painted the doll with watercolors. I finished the doll with acrylic varnishes.

The
entire process was a series of experiments.
Since I have often been asked if my watercolor painting process for
cloth dolls would work on clay dolls I videotaped the process so I could share
it with you.
