Little Lamb Lissette by Marla L. Niederer |
1. Trace all template/pattern pieces onto freezer
paper. Cut out the freezer paper
template pieces
2. Iron the freezer paper template/pattern pieces onto the
folded artificial suede clothe except for the hat. Iron the hat template/pattern onto the fabric you have chosen for the hat
3. Set your sewing machine straight stitch to a very small
stitch. I always put in a new sewing
machine
needle before starting. For sewing artificial
suede cloth I use a Microtex 130/705 H-M 90/14 Schmetz sewing machine
needle. I also find using a clear sewing
machine presser foot helps to follow along the template lines more precisely.
4. Sew along the center of the body part 2 sewing line. Sew along the upper part of the main body between
the two marked dots on the template. Sew along the sewing lines for the ears
and tail. Trim the seams with your
shears.
5. Pin the part 2
body to the main lamb body. Make sure the centers match and that you have a
template for the legs on each side of the lamb to guide your sewing.
6. Sew along the template making sure you don’t catch the
rest of the lamb in your stitches while sewing each set of legs. Leave the back of the lamb open where marked.
7. Use your favorite turning tools to turn the lamb right
side out. I prefer to use my Turn it All
turning tubes. You can purchase this set
at Doll Maker’s Journey here https://dollmakersjourney.com/dollmaking_tools.html#Stuffing_Tools
8. To use this set of turning tools, insert a
hollow tube inside one of the legs.
9.
Place one of the
rods on the end of the leg.
10.Gently slide the
leg fabric up the rod to turn the leg right side out.
11.
Repeat this process
with the rest of the legs.
12.
Take two 5” long
pieces of 18 gauge white cloth wrapped wire and bend them in half.
13.
Insert one of the
wires into the front set of legs through the opening in the back of the lamb.
14.
Insert the second
piece of wire into the rear legs.
15.
I use curved
surgical clamps and chopsticks as stuffing tools. Using the surgical clamps, stuff the legs
around the wires with fiberfill.
16.
Use the chopstick
to add stuffing to the rest of the lamb.
Stuff the lamb firmly.
17.
Using a mechanical
pencil, mark where the eyes, nostrils, and mouth will be.
18.
With the pencil,
mark where the ears are on each side of the head.
